The Football

T H E   F O O T B A L L

The football programme at HTFA is headed up by UEFA 'A' Licensed coach Daniel Pedley. Students will be expected to eat, train, compete and recover well as they are exposed to an environment that replicates that of a professional club. Training and home games will take part at Horley Town FC where students will also have clear pathways and opportunities to represent the club at U23 level, as well as the 1st team.

Before starting the programme students will be sent individual training plans to ensure they are well prepared before the season begins.

THE SEASON

TRAINING

Once the academic year has started the squad will train with UEFA and FA coaches daily. Students will be exposed to a training programme that prepares them physically, technically and tactically week in week out. Our goalkeepers will have access to our full time GK coach Connor Fawdry, who represented Chelsea FC and a number of other clubs at academy level. The training week will also involve specialist strength and conditioning sessions and access to physio treatments as and when needed.

MATCH DAY

On a weekly basis the learners will represent Horley Town FC in games against other colleges, semi-professional and professional academies. The team will also be entered into the FA Youth Cup.

RECOVERY AND ANALYSIS

The day after a match the coaches will put the squad through a light recovery session, followed by video analysis where learners will be able to review their individual and team performance. The use of VEO cameras at all of our games means students will have access to footage if required when applying for trials or scholarship opportunities.
